Li An, born in Beijing, is a trailblazer in China’s nail art industry and a prominent figure in the global beauty community. A graduate of Beijing University of Chemical Technology in 1982, she pursued further studies in the United States in 1992, and in 1994, became the Chief Representative of Global Development Group in China.
Known as the “Godmother of Nail Art in China” and “China’s First Hand Model”, Li An was the first to introduce nail art as a cultural and artistic industry to China in 1995. Under her leadership and advocacy, nail art has transformed into a widely accepted and recognized profession in China. Her efforts were instrumental in the establishment of China’s National Occupational Standards for Nail Artists (Trial Version), which were officially issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
Li An’s contributions to the industry have been widely recognized, including:
• Serving as a judge for the International Olympic Nail Art Competition in 2001, 2002, and 2003.
• Acting as the chief judge for the Chinese Hand Model Competition in 2003 and 2004.
Her expertise and dedication have not only elevated the status of nail art in China but also influenced its recognition as a legitimate career path, inspiring countless professionals in the industry.
In addition to her practical contributions, Li An authored the influential book “The Nail Artist”, which continues to guide aspiring nail artists and professionals in mastering their craft.
