MIVA Asia Barber Competition Guideline

(G2L) Barber - Creative Hair Tattoo Art Design

    1. Competition Rules

(1) Competition Content

    1. Hair Tattoo Design: The tattooed area should feature clear geometric patterns, lines, or textures that reflect the contestant’s creativity and technique. The lines should be smooth, and the edges should be neat.
    2. Overall Styling: The hair tattoo must harmonize with the model’s overall hairstyle, face shape, and style. Surrounding hair should be neat, with a natural transition to the tattooed area.
    3. Creative Expression: The design should be unique and original, avoiding overly simple or templated styles.

(2) Competition Time

    • The competition duration is 30 minutes. All actions must be completed within the time limit.

(3) Contestant Grooming Requirements

    1. Dress Code: Contestants must wear the uniform provided by the organizer, paired with appropriate pants and shoes to reflect a professional image.
    2. Hair Requirements: Hair must be neatly styled, clean, and well-groomed. If the hair is long, it may be tied back to maintain cleanliness and professionalism.
    3. Overall Appearance: Contestants must maintain a tidy and clean appearance, without excessive accessories or heavy makeup, to ensure a professional look.

(4) Model Preparation Requirements

    1. Pre-Competition Grooming: The model’s hair should be trimmed before the competition to ensure the surrounding hair length is even.
    2. If the model’s hair does not meet these requirements, contestants must trim the hair during the competition, which may impact the time available for the hair tattoo design.

(5) Use of Color

    • Hair coloring is allowed on the model’s hair. Contestants may use color in the tattooed area to enhance the layers and visual impact of the design.
    • Bold or vibrant colors (such as red, blue) are encouraged to add visual contrast to the hair tattoo design, but the colors should align with the design theme.
    • Hair color may be solid, gradient, or patterned, but it should remain consistent with the theme of the hair tattoo design.

(6) Tools and Products

    1. Tools: Scissors, small comb, electric shaver, razor, blow dryer, cleaning brush, etc. Fine hair tattooing tools or small clippers may also be used.
    2. Products: Styling spray, conditioner, hair tattooing lubricants, color-enhancing products, including sprays, powders, or hair dyes.
    3. Extension Cords: Contestants must bring their own extension cords; the organizer will only provide one electrical outlet per participant.

(7) Prohibited Actions

    1. The use of pre-made templates to complete the hair tattoo design is prohibited.
    2. No design work may be done on the tattooed area before the competition begins.
    3. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited.

2. Model Requirements

(1) Model Conditions

Participants must bring their own male model, and the model’s hair must be healthy with no obvious scalp damage.

    • The side hair length must be at least 3 cm, and the top hair length must be at least 5 cm to ensure flexibility in the hair tattooing and trimming design.

(2) Model Clothing

    1. The model’s overall appearance (hair color, clothing, accessories) can be chosen based on the theme of the hair tattoo design.
    2. The model may wear non-obstructive earrings, necklaces, or other accessories that do not cover the hair tattoo area, to complement the theme of the tattooed design.

3. Safety and Hygiene

(1) Tools and Products

    1. All tools must be disinfected before and after the competition to ensure no risk of cross-contamination.
    2. Lubricants or care products used during the hair tattoo process must be skin-safe and certified.

(2) Model Protection

    1. Clean the model’s hair before the competition; soothing sprays may be used to reduce skin irritation from the tattooing tools.
    2. Ensure that the hair tattooing process does not cause any harm to the model’s skin.

(3) Work Area Cleanliness

    1. Contestants must ensure that their workstations (tables and chairs) are tidy, with no tools, products, or waste left behind.
    2. Hair dropped during the competition will be cleaned by designated staff, and contestants are not required to handle this.
    3. After the competition, contestants should promptly clean up their tools and products and restore the workstation to a tidy condition.

4. Competition Process

(1) Pre-Competition Preparation

    1. Contestant and Model Check-in:
    • Contestants must arrive at the designated area with their model at least 15 minutes before the competition starts for check-in.

(2) Competition Segment

    1. Competition Start: Contestants have 30 minutes to complete all actions.
    2. Competition End: Contestants must stop immediately when time is up. Any unfinished work will not be counted in the scoring.

(3) Model Presentation

    1. Contestants are not required to move the model. The model should remain standing or sitting in their original position while waiting for evaluation by the judges.
